A Kinetix Air Alternative for Europe: Why Eurovent Changes the Choice

AHU selection softwarecomparison

Kinetix Air is a strong, modern AHU platform — but it's built for a different market than most readers of this blog. If you're a European AHU manufacturer evaluating it as your selection tool, the deciding factor usually isn't features, it's jurisdiction. Here's a fair, factual comparison with AirSelect3D, written by the AirSelect3D team; verify Kinetix's current specifics on their own site.

What Kinetix Air does well

Per their published materials, Kinetix is cloud-based, deploys fast ("30 days vs. 360 for on-prem"), and leans hard into automation — "KAI, our AI agent, helps you save 20 hours per design," with claims of an 85% reduction in effort per AHU and designs "in hours instead of days." It integrates components from "over 150 top manufacturers" — Greenheck, Twin City Fan & Blower, Rosenberg, ebm-papst, Ruskin, Tamco, Munters and more — via API-driven updates, and generates 3D drawings, component lists, pricing and BOMs. For a high-throughput North-American OEM, that's a compelling package.

Why Europe changes the maths

Notice what isn't in Kinetix's public materials: Eurovent, ErP, or SFP. That's not an oversight — those frameworks govern the European market, and Kinetix's manufacturer list (Greenheck, Twin City) is North-American. A tool doesn't need Eurovent ECP-05-2026 if it never sells a unit into the EU.

For a European manufacturer, that's exactly the gap:

  • Compliance is the product, not a footnote. AirSelect3D computes the Eurovent ECP-05-2026 class with winter and summer fs-Pref ratios, the ErP (NRVU) verdict, and SFP to EN 16798 — live, on every edit. In Europe a non-compliant configuration must be caught before it reaches a customer, not after.
  • European vendor engines. AirSelect3D runs the engines European OEMs actually specify — Camfil, Ziehl-Abegg, ebm-papst, Friterm, Recuperator, Klingenburg, Hoval — with each result tagged to its source. The upcoming Regulation (EU) 2024/1834 fan-ecodesign tightening makes that data fidelity matter even more.

Automation vs. compliance: the honest trade

This isn't "one is better." Kinetix optimises for speed through AI automation in a market without Eurovent. AirSelect3D optimises for compliance-correct selection in a market where Eurovent and ErP decide whether a unit is sellable — with a 3D drag-and-drop designer as the working surface rather than an automated black box. If you're in North America chasing throughput, Kinetix's model fits. If you're a European OEM who has to prove ECP-05-2026 class and ErP on every quote, that's the problem AirSelect3D was built for.

Decide on your real constraint

Ask the question that matters for your business: does my selection tool have to produce a defensible Eurovent/ErP result on every unit? If yes, that requirement narrows the field faster than any feature comparison.
